Laboratory

The Madison County Health Department laboratory is a CLIA-certified lab. Some laboratory tests can be provided on site while others are sent to outside labs for results. The laboratory maintains the same hours of operation as the health department (Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00)

  • Rubella; Pertussis; etc

Outside Reference Laboratory Services
Some outside lab tests include: blood lead screening; pap screening test; blood type and RH factor for maternity patients; as well as a wide range of blood chemistries as per doctor orders.

Drinking water testing is available to the general public through the Environmental Health Program. Samples must be collected by an Environmental Health Specialist and there is a fee for testing. When a water sample is requested by a health care provider due to a patient’s health concerns, testing is at no charge.
